Things have been busy the last few weeks. The house closing ran into one snag and then another, but amazing it only closed a day late, on Tuesday of last week. Though The Man was home (btw-“home” is a very flexible term theses days, basically anywhere we can both be together) there have been a number of deaths in his unit and he was away quite a bit on funeral detail. But somehow we managed to get all packed up and into storage, between mumbled grumblings of burning everything we owned to just hitting the road. It’s truly amazing how much you can hate the things you own if you have to deal with it all in a short amount of time, lol. And by Thursday night we had arrived at our new home, for the time being, room 139. The Man left on Sunday for another funeral, and it looks like he’ll been gone for a week. In the meantime, I’ve been checking out our new town, and have been surprised to fine that I rather like it. It has a nice down town area, decent shopping (though the first grocery store I stopped in had the most dismal selection I have seen in a long time. One of the few specialties items I found in the small grungy shop was pickled bologna rope, right next to the bright pink pickled eggs-puke!), lovely old houses, and some decent farmers markets that are small but have a good selection. We are still waiting for new military orders to come in before we rent something. So until then I’ve been visiting with the in-laws and out-laws who are all within decent driving distance, and enjoying myself overall. Oh yes and between all this, I’ve picked up a copy of Wuthering Heights from the hotel “library” (a book shelf really) and I’m already about half way through it. I had decided a while back I wanted to read it again, because I was assigned to read it in high school, but I hated everything I was assigned to read…just a part of my perverse nature I guess… so I wanted to give it another shot. What a dark crabby sort of book, but I rather like it. It’s hard to resist lines like this:
I’ve dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they’ve gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the colour of my mind.
Well I hope you life is full of lovely dreams right now 🙂 Blessings!c
